Where Is Château de la Reine Blanche?
Château de la Reine Blanche is at the Étangs de Commelles in Coye-la-Forêt, at Route Forestière des Étangs de Commelles, postcode 60580. The château sits beside Étang des Loges, one of four ponds in this wooded area.
From Hôtel Le Chantilly, it’s about a 15-minute drive. For more ideas around the area, see this guide to visiting Château de Chantilly.
The ponds are in Chantilly Forest, within a protected classified site belonging to the Domaine de Chantilly and the Parc naturel régional Oise–Pays de France. You can make the ponds the focus of an outing, with the château as a landmark along the way.

The Site and Its Setting
The Étangs de Commelles are a chain of four ponds: Étang Commelles, Étang Chapron, Étang Neuf and Étang des Loges. The ponds were created in the 13th century by monks of the Abbey of Chaalis to serve as fish ponds. Their areas range from 5.55 hectares at Étang Chapron to 9.95 hectares at Étang des Loges.
The Parc naturel régional Oise–Pays de France says Louis VI Henri de Bourbon-Condé transformed an old guard lodge into a hunting lodge and commissioned the small neo-Gothic château. Its presentation does not give a construction year. Today, the château’s own site presents it as a venue for private events, including weddings, exhibitions, family meals and business seminars.
Oise Tourisme describes a walk around the four successive ponds, where you can admire the château. Its listed circuit is 5.2 km, takes 1 hour 30 minutes and has 43 metres of cumulative ascent. The area can also be explored on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. Oise Tourisme lists free parking and a picnic area at the ponds.
Can You Visit the Château?
The château is presented as an event venue, but its official website does not publish regular public visiting dates or opening hours for the building.
Its contact page directs people to call for information about estate bookings and fishing; the number given for booking the estate without catering is 01 85 15 66 12. Don’t assume that a walk around the ponds includes entry to the château.
The surrounding Étangs de Commelles are a separate outing: Oise Tourisme lists them for individual self-guided visits year-round, with free admission. That gives you a way to see the landscape and admire the château from beside the ponds without relying on access to the building’s interior.

Getting There from Chantilly
By car, the château’s directions say to leave the A1 toward Chantilly, follow signs for La Chapelle-en-Serval, then travel through Orry-la-Ville toward Coye-la-Forêt. At the bottom of a long descent, turn right toward the château. If you reach Coye-la-Forêt town centre, you’ve gone past the turn.
Train travel is possible, though the château’s directions don’t specify a walking route or journey time from the station to the site. They describe a TER from Gare du Nord to Orry-la-Ville taking 20 minutes, or RER line D from Gare de Lyon, Châtelet or Gare du Nord taking 40 to 50 minutes.
The Parc naturel régional also says you can reach the ponds from Orry-Coye station by following a walking route, but does not give its distance or duration.
What to Check Before You Go
The château and the pond landscape have different access arrangements: the château’s site describes a private-event venue, while Oise Tourisme lists the ponds as a year-round self-guided outing. For current details on château bookings, fishing and access, check the official site before you go.
If your walk falls in March, note that thousands of frogs and toads come to the ponds to mate, and roads are closed in the evenings to help prevent them being run over. For a stay nearby, see Hôtel Le Chantilly.
